Matt Cain will get the start for the National League in Tuesday's All-Star Game instead of New York Mets pitcher R.A. Dickey, according to Baseball Nation. The choice was made by National League manager Tony La Russa.
Dickey is an incredible 12-1 with a 2.40 ERA on the campaign and has been the best pitcher in the National League. Cain (9-3, 2.62 ERA) has been absolutely terrific as well Of course, Cain threw a perfect game, but Dickey is currently the likely favorite in the NL Cy Young race. Dickey, 37, has already won more games this season than during any other season in his career.
Dickey and third baseman David Wright will represent the Mets in this year's game, which will be played at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City.
