Mark Teixeira Wrist Injury: MRI Scheduled Wednesday

The New York Yankees lost 5-4 to the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night, and they may have also lost a critical piece of their lineup in the process. Mark Teixeira was forced to leave the game in the seventh inning after apparently suffering a left wrist injury. Manager Joe Girardi said following the game that the first baseman would undergo an MRI on Wednesday.

"It's a big concern," Girardi said. "He's a huge part of our lineup."

Teixeira injured his wrist diving for a ball. He got off the ground shaking his left hand, but was able to complete the inning. He did not return after the seventh, however.

Teixeira was struck out in all three of his plate appearances on the night. He is hitting .256/.337/.493 this season with 20 home runs.
