A night after dropping the three-game series opener, the New York Yankees will try and even the set against the host Tampa Bay Rays Tuesday at Tropicana Field (7:10 p.m. ET on YES Network and MLB Network). Ivan Nova (9-2, 4.03 ERA) will take the mound for the Yankees and will oppose Rays' ace James Sheilds (7-5, 4.04 ERA) in the sandwich game.
So far this season, Nova has been the guy to reignited NYY as they have lost only one game he has pitched since May 19. The sophomore righty will toss his first game in the month of July, which will follow an amazing June that featured him going 4-0 with a 1.95 ERA.
Meanwhile, Shields is coming off one of his worst performances of the season as he gave up 14 hits and issued two walks in a 5-2 loss to the Detroit Tigers on Thursday.
