Yankees-Athletics Final Score: New York Drops Second Straight To Oakland In 3-2 Loss

The New York Yankees lost their second game in a row on Friday night, giving the Oakland Athletics a 3-2 walkoff victory in the bottom of the ninth. Cody Eppley took the loss for New York after giving up three straight singles to give the Athletics the win.

After trailing for most of the game the Yankees were able to tie the score thanks to solo home runs from Russel Martin in the eighth and Robinson Cano in the ninth. That left things tied 2-2 as the Athletics came to the plate for the bottom of the ninth. Clay Rapada retired Josh Reddick on a strikeout before being replaced by Eppley, who then gave up a single to Yoenis Cespedes, an infield single to Jonny Gomes, and the game-winning single to Brandon Moss.

Nick Swisher left the game with what the Yankees called a "mild left hip flexor strain" and was seen walking around the clubhouse with a limp following the game. It was unclear whether he would play on Saturday.

By scoring only two runs, the Yankees saw their streak of 43 straight games of scoring three or more runs come to an end.

The Yankees drop to 57-36 with the loss and will look to rebound in the third game of the four-game series, scheduled for Saturday night at 9:05 p.m. ET.
