Yankees Vs. Angels Final Score: Yanks Mash Their Way To A 5-3 Win

The New York Yankees (54-33) aren't wasting any time getting readjusted out of the All-Star Break. The Bronx Bombers took care of the Los Angeles Angels (48-40) once again, this time winning in less dramatic fashion with a 5-3 victory at Yankee Stadium.

Freddy Garcia (4-2, 5.25 ERA) didn't pitch great, but he got the job done and earned his fourth win of the season. Garcia allowed three runs on five hits and as many walks in five frames, leaving the contest with a 4-3 advantage. The Yankees got perfect relief in the trio of Cody Eppley, David Robertson and Rafael Soriano, who threw four scoreless innings.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi lauded the work by his bullpen.

"I love the job that they're doing," he said. "They're ready to pitch at any time I call upon them."

Eppley has been a huge surprise for the Yankees. Claimed on waivers after being released by the Texas Rangers, the side-arming right-hander has a 2.49 ERA in 30 appearances and has become a part of the late-inning mix.

"From where I started at the beginning of the year with Texas to where I am now I don't think I could have dreamt this up," Eppley said after pitching two shutout innings on Saturday.

After falling behind 2-0 in the top of the first, Robinson Cano hit a game-tying homer in the bottom half, before Curtis Granderson put New York ahead for good with a two-run bomb of his own in the third. Cano ended up with three RBI on the afternoon, giving him 54 on the campaign.

The Angels couldn't get much of anything to happen after the first, only scoring a single run the rest of the day. The biggest standout was rookie sensation Mike Trout, who had three hits, a run scored and two stolen bases.

On Sunday, the Yanks will look for the sweep with Ivan Nova going against Jered Weaver.
