Yankees Call Up D.J. Mitchell, Option Adam Warren To Triple-A

To help his taxed bullpen, New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi has called up right-handed reliever D.J. Mitchell as a last minute addition to today's roster against the Chicago White Sox this afternoon according to Brendan Prunty of The Daily-Star. To make room for Mitchell, the Yankees sent down Adam Warren to Triple-A; Warren failed to make it past the third inning in New York's 14-7 loss to the Chicago White Sox on Friday.

This is Mitchell's second stint with the Yankees, with his previous stop only lasting from April 29 to May 4. Michell made two appearances while with the Yankees, striking out one while giving up one earned run and four hits in two and two-thirds of an inning.

With Warren sent down, David Phelps will make the next spot start for the Yankees on Wednesday against the Tampa Bay Rays.
