The New York Yankees are one of the hottest teams in baseball. They'll look to keep things that way when they go for the sweep against the Cleveland Indians on Wednesday afternoon at Yankee Stadium.
New York has been winning via the long ball all season, crushing 116 thus far. Believe it or not, that total is the highest in franchise history through this point in the campaign. Whether that will work in October is another discussion entirely, but for now it's racking up the wins.
Andy Pettitte takes the mound for the Yankees in search of his fourth victory of the year. Pettitte was knocked around early in his last start, giving up five runs against the New York Mets in the first frame before settling down.
The Indians will send Ubaldo Jimenez out for his turn, which hasn't been a very successful plan this season. He does have a 7-5 record, but his ERA is a below-average 4.59. Jimenez was acquired last July with the hopes of becoming the Cleveland ace, but he's been a disappointment so far.
The ex-Rockie needs to come out strong as he did in his last appearance, when he pitched 6.2 innings of shutout ball to topple the Houston Astros.
Unfortunately for Jimenez, he's not facing Houston on Wednesday. The Yankees look primed for the sweep, while Cleveland will just try to stay above .500.
