Yankees Vs. Reds Final Score: New York Loses Series Finale, 5-2

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Cincinnati Reds, 5-2, on Sunday at Yankee Stadium. With the loss, the Yankees dropped their interleague series, 2-1.

The Yankees had a 2-0 lead in the game after the sixth inning on a two-run homer by Raul Ibanez. The lead lasted only until the seventh inning when a pair of solo shots by the Reds tied the game before a walk gave them a 3-2 lead. A ninth inning double gave Cincinnati a couple of insurance runs. Ryan Ludwick had three RBI to lead the Reds.

Johnny Cueto picked up his fifth win of the season for the Reds after going seven strong innings. He gave up two earned runs while walking two and striking out five batters. CC Sabathia also went seven innings in the loss. Sabathia struck out six but walked five and gave up three earned runs. Aroldis Chapman picked up the save for the Reds for pitching a scoreless ninth inning.
