New York Yankees' manager Joe Girardi announced his pitching rotation on Saturday for the American League Division Series against the Baltimore Orioles, which begins Sunday at Camden Yards in Baltimore.
The Yankees had previously announced that CC Sabathia (15-6, 3.38 ERA) would pitch the series opener. The rest of the rotation will be as follows:
Game 2: Andy Pettitte (5-4, 2.87)
Game 3: Hiroki Kuroda (16-11, 3.32)
Game 4: Phil Hughes (16-13, 4.23)
Girardi refused, however, to announce the team's 25-man roster for the ALDS. "We don't need to turn it in until 10:00 tomorrow, and we won't," he said. Girardi did say that the team has not ruled out utility infielder Jayson Nix, who missed several games at the end of the season with a strained hip flexor.
Sabathia said Saturday he is ready for the Game 1 assignment.
"This is what you play for, you know, as a kid, trying to win a championship and being able to be in the postseason with the Yankees means a lot to me, and this organization is unbelievable. All the World Series championships and all the guys we have in the clubhouse that have been there I think helps you out, takes the pressure off, and you can just go out and do your part and have a good chance to win."
Game 1 will begin at 6:15 p.m. and will be televised by TBS.
