Now that the New York Yankees' season is over and Alex Rodriguez struggled mightily as they neared the finish line, rumors have already started swirling regarding the third baseman's future with the team.
Rodriguez, who was benched for three games in the playoffs and pinch-hit for three times in the postseason, maintained his desire to remain a Yankee for the foreseeable future.
"No, I don't think so," Rodriguez said when asked if he believes he played his last game in pinstripes. "I love everything about being a Yankee. The highs are very high and the lows are extremely low. There's no question the last few weeks have been extremely difficult, not only on me but all of my teammates."
After a spring conversation between Yankees president Randy Levine and Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria surfaced this week the chances of Rodriguez being sent to the Miami Marlins, rumors about New York trying to move the former MVP switched into high-gear. Rodriguez discussed the no-trade clause in his contract, which could potentially prevent any future swap from being made.
"I haven't thought about [waiving a no-trade clause]," Rodriguez said. "I love New York City. I plan to be here, and I plan to come back and be productive for this team for a while."
