Yankees vs. Tigers ALCS Game 4 score: Yankees hitless, Tigers lead after 3

The Detroit Tigers are leading the Yankees 2-0 after three innings of Game 4, and the Yankees are yet to record a hit against Max Scherzer.

Delmon Young singled to drive in the first run of the game in the bottom of the first inning. Omar Infante got on base with an infield single, beating out the throw from Eric Chavez. Infante advanced from first to third when Prince Fielder singled to left, and came home on the Delmon Young hit.

New York went down in order in each of the first two innings, but they threatened in the top of the third. The Yankees got their first baserunner when Prince Fielder booted a routine groundball, putting Eduardo Nunez on first with two out. After Nunez stole second base, Ichiro drew a walk before Scherzer struck out Nick Swisher to end the Yankee threat.

Avisail Garcia added to the lead in the bottom of the third inning after Mark Teixeira extended the inning with an error. Prince Fielder got aboard with a single, and Delmon Young followed him by drawing a walk. Andy Dirks reached when Teixeira misplayed the ball hit at him, and Garcia then managed to bring in Fielder with a single up the middle.

CC Sabathia has thrown 73 pitches for the Yankees through three, while Scherzer has thrown 55 pitches for the Tigers.
