ALCS Game 4: Yankees keep A-Rod on the bench

The New York Yankees are keeping Alex Rodriguez and Curtis Granderson out of their lineup on Wednesday as they attempt to fight off elimination, down 3-0 to the Detroit Tigers in the ALCS.

The Star-Ledger-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

The New York Yankees are keeping Alex Rodriguez on the bench as they fight for their lives in Game 4 of the American League Championship Series, down 3-0 to the Detroit Tigers. Rodriguez did not start Game 3 and was not used at all during the game. A-Rod is just 3-for-23 this postseason.

Nick Swisher, who also sat out Game 3, is back in the lineup on Wednesday, playing RF and batting second. Brett Gardner, who started in place of Swisher on Tuesday, will start again in Game 4, this time at CF in place of Curtis Granderson. Granderson is 0-for-10 against the Tigers this postseason and just 3-for-29 in the postseason overall.

The Tigers will go with the same lineup they've used all postseason against left-handers, when they face C.C. Sabathia. Detroit will put Max Scherzer on the mound.
