Bartolo Colon Signing: Former Yankee Signs With Oakland Athletics

A few days ago this would have been a big blow, however, after Friday's fireworks the Sunday news of former New York Yankees pitcher Bartolo Colon signing a one-year deal with the Oakland Athletics isn't that newsworthy. The deal isn't official until Colon passes a physical, says's baseball insider Jason Stark, who broke the story.

If the Yankees had not acquired young-hurler Michael Pineda and veteran Hiroki Kuroda Friday, then this story would have been a bit more noteworthy for Yankee fans, who before then were beginning to get nervous about what the 2012 rotation was going to look like. However, that is no longer the case.

Last season, the 39-year-old Colon, who made the team out of Spring Training, was an impressive 8-10 with a 4.00 ERA in 29 appearance for the Yankees.
