Yankees Vs. Tigers: ALDS Game 1 Suspended

The Detroit Tigers and New York Yankees finished just 1 1/2 innings in Game 1 of their American League Division Series on Friday before rain stopped play. The game was suspended with the score tied 1-1 and will be picked up from that point Saturday night (8:37 p.m. ET/TBS).

The contest will pick up where it left off Saturday at 8:37 p.m. (ET), and Game 2 will be played on Sunday at 3:07 p.m.

This is the worst possible scenario for both teams. The No. 1 pitchers for both staffs, CC Sabathia for the Yankees and Justin Verlander for the Tigers, were on the mound. Neither pitcher is likely to be available for a few days.

Ivan Nova — originally scheduled to pitch Game 2 — will be on the hill for the Yankees when Game 1 resumes, and Doug Fister will pitch for the Tigers. New York will start Freddy Garcia in Sunday’s Game 2, and Detroit will counter with Max Scherzer. Tigers manager Jim Leyland said after the game was suspended that Verlander — who started Friday’s game — will pitch Game 3 on Monday in Detroit.

Tickets for Game 1 can only be used on Saturday, while tickets for Game 2 can only be used for Sunday’s game. There are no refunds or exchanges for tickets to either of these games.
