Derek Jeter Back In Yankees Lineup; Alex Rodriguez Is Not

Derek Jeter is back in the New York Yankees lineup Tuesday night against Boston. The Captain missed Monday’s game against Baltimore after fouling a pitch off his right kneecap. The Yankees are not so fortunate with Alex Rodriguez, however.

Rodriguez is out of the lineup against Boston pitcher John Lackey due to a thumb injury. He is not expected to play at all during the three games against the Red Sox, who lead the Yankees by 1.5 games in the American League East.

Rodriguez already missed six weeks this season after undergoing knee surgery. He has played in just four games since his return. Rodriguez has reportedly received a cortisone to help the injury heal, and has been told that surgery will not be necessary. The injury is to Rodriguez’s left thumb, and he agrravated it trying to play on Sunday.

Ace CC Sabathia pitches Tuesday for the Yankees. He has struggled this season against Boston, however, going 0-4 in four starts against them with a 7.20 ERA.
