The Yankees have now won three straight as they head back to Yankee Stadium to open a three-game Subway Series against the New York Mets on Friday.
Nick Swisher went 2-for-4 with four runs batted in and Mark Teixeira homered and drove in three runs. Derek Jeter had two hits, a double and triple, and Curtis Granderson, Russell Martin and Brett Gardner also had two hits for New York. Swisher had the biggest hit of the night, a two-out, bases loaded double in the first inning that drove home three runs to give the Yankees a 5-0 lead.
CC Sabathia (4-3) pitched eight shutout innings for the Yankees. New York has responded to a six-game losing streak with three straight victories. The Yankees are now 23-19, one game behind Tampa Bay in the American League East.
