New York Yankees 6, Minnesota Twins 4: ALDS Game 1 To Yankees

No thanks to the six-man umpiring crew, the New York Yankees defeated the Minnesota Twins, 6-4, in Game 1 of their American League Division Series Wednesday night.

The Yankees came back from a 3-0 deficit to win. The big hit was a two-run home run from Mark Teixeira off Jesse Crain in the seventh inning that snapped a 4-4 tie.

From there, the Yankees got three shutout innings from their bullpen. Boone Logan, David Robertson, Kerry Wood and Mariano Rivera combined.

The game was marred by a blown call with two outs in the ninth inning. A ball hit to right field by Minnesota’s Delmon Young was clearly caught by Yankee outfielder Greg Golson, but was ruled a single.

Fortunately, the play did not affect the outcome as Rivera got Jim Thome to pop out to end the game on the next pitch.
