The New York Red Bulls will try to earn their third straight victory Saturday, as they visit the Columbus Crew for a Major League Soccer Eastern Conference showdown. Entering the contest, both squads are four-way tie for second place in the Eastern Conference.
Last week, New York (2-2-0) earned its second straight victory, 5-2 over the Montreal Impact, behind a hat-trick and an assists from star forward Thierry Henry. Kenny Cooper and Mehdi Ballouchy also scored goals for the Red Bulls, who has scored nine goals in the past two matches.
Meanwhile, the Crew have earned two straight shutout victories, most recently downing the Toronto FC 1-0 last Saturday.
Overall, Columbus leads the all-time series between these two clubs with a 23-22 record. Last season, the two teams played to two draws.
