The New York Red Bulls have confirmed through general manager Erik Solér that European teams are interested in defender Tim Ream, but would not comment further.
ESPN New York is reporting that a certain European team, English Premier League side Bolton, has put in a transfer offer for Ream worth between $2.5 and $3 million (via ESPN New York). Added incentives for matches played could sweeten the deal. The two sides are reportedly close to finalizing the deal which could happen today, but more likely, this weekend.
Bolton apparently doesn't see Ream as a quick fix for departing defender Gary Cahill who is reportedly on the move to Chelsea.
Ream has made 58 appearances for the Red Bulls since joining the team in 2010. He's scored one goal and one assist during his matches. Ream has trained with Bolton and West Brom this offseason.
