The 2012 MLS SuperDraft is being conducted Thursday, and with the 31st overall selection in the three-round event the New York Red Bulls would seem unlikely to be able to add an impact player to their 2012 roster. That, however, does not mean the Red Bulls won't make a splash prior to the 2012 MLS season.

Red Bulls Managing Director Erik Soler told mlssoccer.com that the team is pursuing a third designated player, likely a central midfielder, and a young American goalkeeper with international experience. "For the long term, it'd be great for us to find an American goalkeeper we can build on," Soler told mlssoccer.

The draft begins today at noon ET in Kansas City, Mo. You can watch live on ESPN2 and online at ESPN3.
