It was supposed to be a battle of two of the most talented teams in the MLS. Both teams boasted incredible star power, and both sides were trying to find their championship form.
The match lived up to what it was supposed to be, with New York and Los Angeles playing out a 1-1 draw.
Red Bull keeper Bouna Coundoul played a fantastic game for New York, making critical saves in the early going, and preserving the draw down the stretch. Coundoul might get overlooked on this team filled with star-talent, but he’s one of the more vital cogs in this Red Bull machine, and he showed why against the Galaxy.
Thierry Henry had another great game (three in a row for him), burying his fourth goal of the season in the fourth minute of the game. Henry’s goal gave the Red Bulls a 1-0 lead.
But towards the end of the half the Galaxy would answer with a goal from their superstar, Landon Donovan. Donovan would put home a perfect feed to tie the game at one.
Both sides pressured over the rest of the match, but couldn’t find a go-ahead goal.
The Red Bulls are now 4-1-3 on the season.
