The New York Red Bulls will travel to face FC Dallas Wednesday (9 p.m. ET/FOX Soccer Channel) in a single-elimination Wild-Card match as the 2011 MLS Cup Playoffs get underway.
The Red Bulls' opponent was determined after the Houston Dynamo's 3-1 victory over the Los Angeles Galaxy Sunday night, which pushed New York to the 10th overall seed. If the Red Bulls were to advance, they would face the top-seeded Galaxy in a home-and-home Conference Semifinal Series. The first leg would take place at Red Bull Arena on Sunday, Oct. 30 at a time to be determined (TV: ESPN or ESPN2, Deportes, ESPN3).
The Red Bulls barely qualified for the playoffs after a disappointing regular season which began with New York expected to be a serious MLS Cup title contender. Can the Red Bulls make a memorable playoff run, easing the pain of their difficult regular season? We begin to find out on Wednesday.
