2012 NHL Playoffs, Rangers Vs. Capitals: Game 7 Would Be Saturday

A potential Game 7 between the New York Rangers and Washington Capitals would take place at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday at Madison Square Garden, the NHL announced.

The Rangers seized a 3-2 series lead in Game 5 when they tied the game with seven seconds remaining in regulation, then tallied the game-winner in the overtime session. They'll have a chance to end the series in Game 6 on the road.

The schedule for the Eastern Conference Finals has not yet been released, but Game 1 could be as early as Monday, May 14 even if the current series goes to Game 7.

The New York-Washington series is the only second-round matchup still going, with the Los Angeles Kings, Phoenix Coyotes and New Jersey Devils all awaiting the start of the conference finals.
