The 2012 NHL Winter Classic is less than 24 hours away and it seems that the weather report for the NHL's annual outdoor game looks pretty good for those attending New York Ranger fans. According to Weather.com, Sunday's forecast calls for windy and mild conditions, but very little chance for any precipitation to ruin the contest between the host Philadelphia Flyers (22-10-4, 48 points) and the Rangers (23-9-4, 50 points), who will play in a specially created rink in the middle of Citzen Bank Park in Philadelphia, PA.
The game will be broadcast on NBC starting at 1 p.m., and around that time the weather is predicted to be around 41-degress with the wind blowing around 23 miles per hour and just a 20-percent chance of any precipitation. As the contest progresses nothing is suppose to change.
Only twice in five years has there been precipitation during the Winter Classic. The first came during the inaugural in 2008, when the Buffalo Sabres and Pittsburgh Penguins played in snow flurries at Ralph Wilson Stadium. Then, last last year at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, PA, the Penguins and Washington Capitals played in a bit of a drizzle during the game.
