Winter Classic 2012 Weather Report: Rain Not Expected To Be A Factor For Rangers Vs. Flyers

The New York Rangers will faceoff against the Philadelphia Flyers at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia in the 2012 Winter Classic on Jan. 2 at 1 p.m. As this is an outdoor event, it is important to ask, what will the weather look like?

According to Weather.com, there is only a 10% chance of precipitation. The high for the day is listed at 42 degrees. However, the wind will be coming from the west at 22 miles per hour.

Wind has been a factor recently in the construction of the rink for the game. The crew had to wait to paint the ice due to the wind, but that is underway now (via Dan Rosen's Twitter). Before the wind problems today, hard rain gave the crew problems with the ice sheet. Luckily, the gameday forecast appears to rule out at least the rain factor.
