Rangers Vs. Islanders First Period Score: Rangers Lead 1-0

The New York Rangers lead the New York Islanders 1-0 after the first period of play at Madison Square Garden.

The stars of the first period were the goaltenders for the New York teams. Evgeni Nabakov for the Islanders made six saves. Marton Biron for the Rangers made 10 saves.

Brandon Dubinsky finally broke through at the 14:53 mark when he beat Nabakov with a wrist shot. The goal was Dubinsky's second of the season. Stu Bickel and Biron assisted on the goal.

The Islanders' Micheal Haley and Michael Del Zotto of the Rangers committed penalties at the 17:11 mark of the first period. Haley was booked for roughing and Del Zotto picked up a slashing minor in retaliation. The Rangers had one more penalty at 19:24 when Ryan McDonagh was sent to the box for holding John Tavares.
