Brewers 3, Mets 0: Milwaukee Blanks New York In Series Finale

Behind an eight-inning, two-hit performance from Wily Peralta, who was making just his third Major League start, the Milwaukee Brewers shutout the New York Mets, 3-0, at Miller Park. Peralta (2-0) gave up just two hits and struck out five batters to help the Brewers (74-72) earn the series victory over the Mets (66-80), who took the series' opener. Milwaukee still sits 2 1/2 games behind in the NL Wild Card standings.

Milwaukee's offense all came from solo home runs, as Ryan Braun and Armais Ramirez smashed back-to-back blasts in the bottom of the fourth inning and Bruan hit another in the sixth. For Braun the home runs were his 39th and 40th of the season.

Losing pitcher Chris Young (4-8) lasted 6 2/3 innings allowing three runs on eight hits. The outing was Young's longest since Aug. 21 vs. the Colorado Rockies.
