The New York Mets will try to start a winning streak as they seek their second consecutive victory against the Brewers in Milwaukee. The Mets scored seven runs for the first time since mid-August to take the opener on Friday night while the Brewers desperately need a victory to keep from falling out of contention in the wild-card race.
Jenrry Mejia makes his first start for the Mets in exactly two years after sitting out the entire 2011 season while recovering from Tommy John surgery. Mejia allowed one run in two innings on September 7, his only Major League outing of the season, and is winless in 34 career apearances. Milwaukee counters with veteran Shaun Marcum (5-4, 3.71), who has struggled with a 6.75 ERA over his last three starts and has yet to face the Mets this season.
