Mets Vs. Braves Final Score: Johan Santana Roughed Up In Mets' 6-1 Loss

The New York Mets were defeated by the Atlanta Braves, 6-1, on Sunday at Turner Field. New York dropped all three games of three-game series.

Andres Torres got the only run of the game across for the Mets in the seventh inning on an RBI single. However, by then the damage had already been done. Atlanta put all six runs across in the fifth inning. Michael Bourn started the scoring off with an RBI double. Martin Prado then hit a sacrifice fly. Jason Heyward hit an RBI single before Freddie Freeman cleared the bases with one swing on his three-run shot.

Johan Santana (3.59 ERA) got the start but dropped to 6-6 on the season in a loss. Santana went five innings and gave up eight hits, six earned runs and two walks while he struck out three batters. Ben Sheets went six innings for Atlanta in the win. Sheets was sharp giving up only two hits and one walk while allowing zero runs and striking out five batters. This was his first start in two seasons.

The Mets (46-43) will begin their next series against the Washington Nationals (51-35) on Tuesday at Nationals Park.
