Jeremy Baltz Of St. John's, Patrick Cantwell Of Stony Brook Join Travis Jankowski As Early 2012 MLB Draftees

It's been a good week for the Stony Brook Seawolves baseball team.

With three wins in two days this weekend, Stony Brook earned the school's first trip to the NCAA Tournament Super Regionals. The Seawolves begin the Super Regionals against LSU in Baton Rouge on Friday.

Stony Brook also had two players selected in the first three rounds of the 2012 MLB Draft. Junior outfielder Travis Jankowski became the highest draft pick in school history when he was chosen with the 44th overall pick by the San Diego Padres on Monday. Seawolves senior catcher Patrick Cantwell joined Jankowski on Tuesday when he was selected with the 123rd overall pick by the Texas Rangers.

New York state isn't normally considered a hotbed of major league talent, but St. John's outfielder Jeremy Baltz was also selected by the San Diego Padres, with the 68th overall pick.
