Frank Francisco Injury: New York Mets Closer Placed On 15-Day DL With Strained Oblique

New York Mets closer Frank Francisco has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left oblique. The disabled list placement is retroactive to June 23 (via MLB).

Francisco said on Saturday about the injury, "I felt a little sore after the game (Friday) night, but I thought it was normal. I put ice on. (Saturday) I feel a little worse. I went outside anyway and threw to see if it was something minor. I still feel it." (via ESPN NY).

Francisco is 1-3 on the season with a 4.97 ERA. He has 18 saves out of 21 opportunities this season for the Mets. Francisco has converted 10 of his last 11 save opportunities with an ERA of just 1.76 during that stretch.

The Mets closer for Sunday's Subway Series game against the New York Yankees at Citi Field has not been determined.
