The old saying goes 'Don't tug on Superman's Cape.' Well, in advance of this weekend's Subway Series at Citi Field between the New York Yankees and New York Mets, the upstart Mets have certainly been ignoring that adage.
First, manager Terry Collins warned that the Mets ballpark won't be as friendly to the Yankees sluggers as Yankee Stadium Now, closer Frank Fransisco of the Mets is calling the Yankees "chickens."
"I can't wait to face those chickens. I want to strike out the side against them. I've done it before," said Francisco.
Maybe Francisco should have checked his 5.14 ERA before talking. And maybe the Mets are just pumping themselves up since they got swept the last time the teams played.
Either way, I guess it's nice to see somebody adding a little spice to the Subway Series.
