When it comes to sweeps, the New York Mets might just put a patent on them with a win on Wednesday evening. If the Amazins' can grab another victory it would be the fourth series in a row where either they were swept or did the sweeping.
So far, the Mets have looked unstoppable against the young and very improved Baltimore Orioles. New York is yet to yield a run, winning the first two contests by a combined 10-0 score.
Now it's Dillon Gee's turn to toe the rubber. Gee has a 4-5 record and a 4.43 ERA. Brian Matusz will take the mound for Baltimore in search of his sixth win of the campaign. Considered a major pitching prospect for years, Matusz hasn't lived up to his hype yet. The 25-year-old has been touched up in his last two outings, giving up eight earned runs in 7.2 innings.
The Mets can rest easy after the game with a day off on Thursday before welcoming the New York Yankees to Citi Field for a pressure-packed rematch of the Subway Series.
