Ike Davis hit a grand slam home run and R.A. Dickey pitched his second consecutive one-hitter Monday night as the New York Mets defeated the Baltimore Orioles, 5-0, in the first game of their three-game series at Citi Field.
Davis first career grand slam in the sixth inning to give the Mets a 4-0 lead. It was the seventh home run of the year for the Mets first baseman, who is hitting only .196 for the season. Dickey (11-1) struck out a career-high 13. Wilson Betemit got Baltimore's only hit, a fifth-inning single.
Game 2 of the series is set for Tuesday night at 7:10 p.m. ET. Johan Santana (4-3, 3.23 ERA) will take on the Orioles' Tommy Hunter (3-3, 5.58) at the mound.
