After sweeping the Tampa Bay Rays, New York dropped the opener of its three-game set with Cincinnati on Friday night. The Mets had combined for 29 runs in their previous three outings, but managed just three in falling 7-3 to the Reds Friday.
Jonathon Niese (4-2, 3.69 ERA) gets the start for the Mets. The Reds, winners of four straight, will counter with Homer Bailey (4-4, 4.35 ERA).
Jason Bay suffered a concussion during Friday's game and is expected to go on the disabled list Saturday.
