Ruben Tejada Injury Update: Mets Place Tejada On 15-Day DL With Right Quad Strain

The New York Mets placed shortstop Ruben Tejada on the 15-Day disabled list with a strained right quadriceps muscle following an MRI on his leg (via Mets Twitter).

Tejada injured his leg during Sunday's 3-1 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. Tejada was attempting to run out a bunt in the fourth inning when he face planted on the bag a first and held his leg. He was 2-2 at the the plate at the time of the injury. He also suffered a laceration under his eye from the fall.

Tejada had been hitting .305 in 27 games this season, well above his career batting average of .263. Tejada had 10 extra-base hits (all doubles), 14 runs scored, eight RBI and eight walks for the Mets this season. As a result of Tejada going on the disabled list, Jordany Valdespin has been recalled from Buffalo.
