Mets Vs. Phillies Delayed In Middle Of The 8th Inning

Play was suspended in Tuesday night's game between the New York Mets and the Philadelphia Phillies in the middle of the eighth inning due to oncoming inclement weather at Citi Field. The Mets lead the Phillies 6-3, and would be declared the winner if play cannot be resumed Tuesday. A game is declared "official" after five innings.

Jeremy Hefner started on the mound for the Mets, giving up three earned runs off six hits and no walks. More impressively, he hit his first career home run off of Joe Blanton in the fourth inning to give the Mets a 4-2 lead. Blanton was rocked with six earned runs off nine hits and two walks in five innings of work.
