Mets Vs. Padres Final Score: R.A. Dickey Strikes Out 10 Padres In 2-0 New York Win

The New York Mets defeated the San Diego Padres, 2-0, on Sunday at Citi Field. The Mets won the series, 3-1.

Knuckleballer R.A. Dickey baffled Padres hitters over 7 1/3 innings. Dickey finished with 10 strikeouts and just one walk while allowing just three hits. The win improved Dickey's record to 7-1. Edinson Volquez took the loss after going 5 2/3 innings. Volquez earned both runs in the game while striking out five and walking three.

Daniel Murphy got the Mets on the board in the first inning with an RBI single. A passed ball from Volquez in the fifth inning allowed Mike Baxter to come around to score.

Tim Byrdak got his 12th hold of the season by finishing the eighth inning for Dickey. Frank Francisco closed the game and picked up his 13th save for a scoreless ninth inning. The Mets only had five hits but were 2-7 with runners in scoring position.

The Mets next series begins on May 28 against the Philadelphia Phillies at Citi Field.
