The New York Mets will play the second game of their four-game series against the San Diego Padres on Friday at Citi Field. The Mets dropped game one, 11-5, on Thursday.
For today's game, the Mets will send Dillon Gee (3-3, 5.44) out to the mound for the start. The Padres will use Anthony Bass (2-4, 2.98 ERA) out as their starting pitcher. Gee is trying to overcome a horrible start to the season at home. He's 0-3 at Citi Field in 2012 with an ERA of 7.33. The Padres might be just the team to help Gee overcome that slump. Last night seemed to be an anomaly. The Padres had 11 runs on a season-high 18 hits but have scored three or fewer runs in 16 of their last 20 games.
Gee has needed plenty of run support in his three wins and could get some from third baseman David Wright. Wright's hitting .405 this season with five homers and 28 RBI.
