The New York Mets lost 8-0 to the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday night in Game 2 of their two-game series. Reliever D.J. Carrasco was ejected in the top of the seventh inning when he hit Ryan Braun with a fastball after giving up a solo home run to Rickie Weeks. It was a rough night in general for Mets pitchers. Dillon Gee gave up seven earned runs off eight hits, two of them home runs, in just 5 1/3 innings on the mound.
Meanwhile, Zack Greinke pitched a gem for the Brewers. He gave up just five hits and struck out seven in seven scoreless innings on the mound. Tim Dillard and John Axford allowed just one hit over the final two innings of the game to preserve the victory for Milwaukee.
David Wright appeared at the plate just twice on Tuesday, recording a double in the first inning and a single in the fourth. Mike Baxter was the only other Met with multiple hits. He had a double in the sixth and a single in the ninth while pinch hitting for Manny Acosta.
Trevor Ishikawa homered twice for the Brewers, including a three-run shot off Gee in the sixth inning. He finished the game 3-for-4 with five RBIs. Jonathan Lucroy went 2-for-4 with an RBI single in the sixth.
