Mets Vs. Brewers Final Score: Batista Pitches 7 Scoreless Innings In 3-1 Win

Miguel Batista gave up no runs and just four hits in seven innings on the mound during the New York Mets' 3-1 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday night. The Mets needed a shot in the arm after dropping two of three games against the Miami Marlins over the weekend. They got it behind Batista and a strong game at the plate for David Murphy.

Murphy went 2-for-4, driving in one run off a single in the first inning and another off a suicide squeeze in the eighth. Murphy scored a run in the sixth off of a Ronny Cedeno sacrifice to first base. Brewers' ace Yovani Gallardo gave up the Mets' first two earned runs in his six innings on the mound. He only surrendered two hits, but walked six in addition to his six strikeouts.

Frank Francisco earned his ninth save of the season and redeemed himself for a recent string of shaky outings. He did give up the Brewers' only run of the game, a Corey Hart single to score Ryan Braun in the ninth inning. He was able to strike out Brooks Conrad and force George Kottaras to fly out to end the game, however.
