The New York Mets will wrap up their three-game series with the Miami Marlins Sunday (1:10 p.m. ET on SNY) without first basemen Ike Davis and third-base coach Tim Teufel, as both have flue-like symptoms and will need a day off to get better.
The scratch of Davis will force Daniel Murphy to move from second base to first, while rookie Jordany Valdespin will replace Murphy at second in an unexpected start -- only his third of the season. The batting lineup will switch slightly, as shortstop Ronny Cedeno will go from seventh to sixth and Vadespin will take over the seventh spot.
In a starting roll this season, which has only come twice, Valdespin is 0-for-6 at the plate. On Tuesday, Valdespin went 0-for-3 in a victory over the host Philadelphia Phillies.
