Mets Vs. Braves: New York Wins 7-5 On Sunday, Sweeps Series

The New York Mets won 7-5 on Sunday against the Atlanta Braves at Citi Field in New York. With the win, the Mets swept the series, 3-0.

Jon Niese had a shutout through six innings of work for the Mets before the shutout ended. Niese was charged with 2 earned runs in his first win of the season. He also walked 2 and struck out 7 batters during the six innings. Manny Acosta had the only other earned run out of the Mets bullpen. Frank Francisco picked up the save for New York, his third of the season. Mike Minor picked up the loss for Atlanta while giving up six earned runs in five innings.

The Mets scored in the first, fourth, fifth and sixth innings. The Braves got their runs in the 7th and 8th innings. Ruben Tejada was 4-5 for New York, had 2 RBI and scored 2 runs. Daniel Murphy also drove in 2 runs and scored one run. David Wright, Jason Bay and Lucas Duda each had an RBI for the Mets. Freddie Freeman ended Nieses' shutout bid with a single in the 7th inning. Despite the brief scare, the Mets' 7-0 lead proved too much for the Braves to come back from.
