The New York Mets can win its second consecutive series if they beat the Colorado Rockies on Sunday afternoon. Frank Francisco shut down a potential Rockies rally in the bottom of the ninth inning to capture a save in the 7-5 victory on Saturday.
Johan Santana (0-2, 3.00 ERA) is fresh off one of his strongest starts this season, striking out 11 San Francisco Giants while allowing just one run in six-plus innings on the mound. However, Santana took a no-decision in the game, as the Mets didn't score the go-ahead run until the bottom of the eighth inning.
The Rockies start the major leagues oldest pitcher, 49-year-old Jamie Moyer (1-2, 2.28 ERA). Moyer entered spring training as a long shot to make the rotation, but he proved effective during Cactus League play and secured the fifth spot. He has proven to be the team's most reliable starter, holding the rotation's lowest ERA. He has allowed just three runs over his last two starts (13 innings in total).
