Mike Pelfrey Injury Update: Mets' Right-Hander Could See Dr. James Andrews, According To Reports

As former New York Mets shortstop Jose Reyes get set to make his return at Citi Field Tuesday, his former squad is quickly dealing with some early-season roster troubles. The most critical dealing with right-handed pitcher Mike Pelfrey who was placed on the disable list with elbow swelling and is now considering seeing the dreaded Dr. James Andrews.

Now, its not official that Pelfrey is going to make a trip to see Andrews as the Mets are hoping rest will bring down the swelling and pain, however, it seems New York might be preparing for the worst.

In the meantime, Pelfrey's spot in the rotation will be taken over by Chris Schwinden, who's 2-2 with a 2.05 ERA with the Mets' Triple-A affiliate, Buffalo Bison, this season. Last season, Schwinden made four starts for the Mets, going 0-2 with a 4.71 ERA.
