Mets Vs. Giants Preview: Rainout Forces Monday Doubleheader

After not getting to play Sunday due to rain, the New York Mets (8-6) and San Francisco Giants (7-7) are scheduled for a doubleheader Monday afternoon/evening at Citi Field.

The bad news is the forecast is predicting still more rain, threatening to wash out the back end of the series.

If the wet stuff holds off, the Mets will send Miguel Batista to the mound to square off against Tim Lincecum. As lopsided as that match-up appears, Lincecum has been brutal thus far. The diminutive right-hander is 0-2 with a 10.54 ERA this season.

Batista on the other hand will be making his first start and has an inflated ERA of 5.40.

In Game Two Dillon Gee would get the ball against youngster Madison Bumgarner.

Gee has pitched effectively thus far, sporting a 1-1 record and a 2.92 ERA while Bumgarner is 2-1 with a 3.63 ERA.

The first two games in this series were split, so New York will be looking to take three of four if possible.

TV: SNY, WPIX (respectively)

Time: 4:10 and 7:10
