The New York Mets look to snap a three-game losing skid when they resume their four-game set with the San Francisco Giants on Saturday afternoon at Citi Field. (Game Time: 1:10 p.m. ET, TV Schedule: WPIX)
San Francisco edged New York 4-3 in 10 innings on Friday to take the series opener. Pablo Sandoval had two hits to continue his 13-game hitting streak and Hector Sanchez also pitched in two hits, including the go-ahead single in the 10th frame.
New York will look to Mike Pelfrey to stop the bleeding. Pelfrey (0-0, 3.09 ERA) is 0-5 with a 4.97 ERA in nine home starts since June 18, 2011.
Ryan Vogelsong will take the mound for San Francisco. The righty was 6-1 with a 3.57 ERA during 13 road appearances last season.
