David Wright Injury: Third Baseman Returns To Mets Lineup

New York Mets third baseman David Wright suffered a broken pinkie during Tuesday's game and there was speculation that Wright would have to make a trip to the disabled list.

Four days later, Wright is in the Mets starting lineup and batting third against the Philadelphia Phillies.

The 29-year-old has enjoyed a scorching start to the 2012 season. In 17 plate appearances Wright is batting .545, with one home run and four RBIs for the 5-2 Mets.

Wright is coming off the worst season of his career, in which he tied a career low in home runs with 14 and hit only .254. His low BABIP of .302 – 39 points below his career average – suggests Wright was the victim of bad luck in 2011.
