3. Jon Matlack started three games in the Series, compiling a 1-2 record.

4. Jesus Alou, who would go on to play for the Mets in 1975, played right field for the Oakland A's in the Series.

5. A's second baseman Mike Andrews was "fired" by owner Charlie Finley after he made two errors in Game Two. Finley forced Andrews to sign a falsified injury report, but the infielder's teammates refused to play unless he was reinstated. Andrews returned in Game Four and was given a standing ovation by Met fans at Shea.
