Amare Stoudemire Injury Update: Knicks' Star Says 'Great Chance' He Returns Sunday

Amare Stoudemire remains out for Game 3 against the Miami Heat Thursday night, but the New York Knicks star said there's a "great chance" he returns to the court Sunday for Game 4.

"I think there's a great chance I'll play Sunday," he told assembled reporters Wednesday, per Mark Hale of the New York Post.

The Knicks have the optimistic Stoudemire listed as doubtful for Game 4. [Related: Stoudemire's Disappointing Decline]

Stoudemire became the victim (and culprit) of one of the strangest injuries in recent professional sports history when he punched a fire extinguisher during the moments after New York's Game 2 loss and suffered a laceration on the inside of his hand. A person who witnessed the incident told ESPN's Chris Broussard that "half of his hand was just hanging off" and that "blood was just squirting out."
